Reynolds Hall at The Smith Center Rules
Before attending a show at Reynolds Hall, it helps to understand the venue rules to prevent any hiccups upon entry. Reynolds Hall generally follows the same rules as The Smith Center, but policies can vary between shows, so we recommend checking the information on your tickets well in advance. Here are some general guidelines for shows at Reynolds Hall:
Age Policies
The Smith Center allows children ages five and up to attend performances with a parent or guardian. Certain shows may have additional age restrictions and content warnings that you can find on your tickets. Children ages 16 to 17 may attend shows without a guardian if they have guardian consent.
All children must have a ticket for the show. Children ages five and up must be able to sit in their own seats. Babies cannot be held on their parents’ laps or in their arms.
Photography Rules
The Smith Center strictly prohibits photography and videography of any kind. Some performing artists may allow photos and videos on personal cell phones, but many do not allow cell phone use of any kind (aside from accessibility purposes). Professional cameras, GoPros, tripods, selfie sticks, and flash photography are prohibited at all shows, as such actions can violate copyrights and potentially harm performers or other guests.
If you violate photography rules, venue staff has the right to confiscate your camera or photography equipment. If you have any questions, contact the venue at (702) 749-2000.
Restricted Items
Reynolds Hall at The Smith Center prohibits guests from bringing the following items inside the venue:
» Recording devices
» All weapons of any size or shape
» Outside food or beverages
» E-cigarettes, marijuana products, or tobacco products
The Smith Center has an exterior smoking area guests may use before the show or during intermissions. While you cannot bring outside food or beverages inside the venue, you can bring your reusable Smith Center cup from home to be refilled at venue bars or refreshment centers. You may also bring binoculars inside to enhance your viewing experience.
Bag Policy
Bag policies vary between shows, so we recommend referencing the information on your tickets. The Smith Center generally allows you to bring small personal items, like purses, inside, but they must be smaller than 8” by 10”. Your bag should fit on your lap or under your seat.
The Smith Center does not allow you to bring in large backpacks, suitcases, duffle bags, etc. All bags, coats, hats, and other personal items are subject to search upon arrival.
Upon entry, all guests must go through a metal detector. We recommend removing any metal items from your pockets in advance to expedite the process. You may keep all belongings in your bag as it will be searched separately.
If you refuse screening, you may be denied entry.
Dress Code
Reynolds Hall at The Smith Center does not enforce a strict dress code. The venue recommends dressing in appropriate and comfortable attire for the type of event you’re attending. With that being said, all guests must wear shoes and a shirt or they will be barred entry.
Cancellation, Refund, and Rescheduling Policies
All performance dates are subject to change due to various unforeseen circumstances. If your scheduled event is rescheduled, you can accept the new date, request a refund, or donate the tickets back to The Smith Center. If your event is canceled, you will receive a full refund for your tickets.
All ticket sales are final. If you cannot attend your performance date for any reason, you cannot request a refund or cancel your purchase.
You may only exchange your ticket for another event if you are a Smith Center season ticket holder. Members can exchange tickets using the “My Upcoming Performances“ Smith Center account page or by calling the venue at (702) 749-2000.
Disorderly Conduct
Concerts and performances can be exciting, but you must follow The Smith Center’s rules to avoid causing any disruptions during the event. You may be asked to leave without receiving a refund if you act in a disorderly way.
Disorderly conduct includes the following:
» Intentionally blocking other guests’ views (sitting on someone’s shoulders, standing on chairs, etc.)
» Engaging in a fight
» Provoking others with offensive language
» Throwing liquids or objects
» Igniting any type of flame, including lighters or matches
» Excessive drinking or underage drinking
Reynolds Hall Theater Etiquette
Reynolds Hall is a performing arts theater, not just a concert venue. If you’re attending a ballet, Broadway show, one-many comedy routine, or something similar, you must act respectfully so other guests can enjoy the experience.
Here are some theater etiquette tips that can help you be mindful of other guests and ensure that everyone gets the most out of the experience:
» Avoid whispering, talking, or singing along to songs.
» Turn your phone off before the show.
» Do not eat or open any wrappers during the performance (wait for the intermission).
» Avoid wearing excessive perfumes or irritating scents.
» Do not intentionally block the view of other guests.
» Only exit the theater during scheduled intermissions and exit times.
» Save your bathroom break for the intermission.
» Stay home if you think you might be sick.
