In his time away, he meets new friends, Timon and Pumbaa, who encourage him to forget his past and live life on his own terms. the young prince's relaxed demeanor then takes a turn when Simba once again encounters his childhood confidant Nala, who encourages him to return to the Pride Lands and requests him to save the people of his land.

This complicated plot of heartbreak, strong bonds, and fearless leadership is intensified by the familiar classic songs, written by Elton John and Tim Rice. Their original compositions, partnered with additional songs and lyrics from big names like Zimmer, Lebo M, Mark Mancina, Jay Rifkin, and director Julie Taymor have contributed to the immense success of the musical not just in Broadway, but also in Europe and Asia performances.
