Following asking a friend about his newborn niece and, And receiving the reply “Oh, she’s amazing—she’s like this little old woman trapped in a baby’s body”, David Lindsay-Abaire thought of "Kimberly Akimbo" for the first time.
Kimberly Akimbo is a performance that presented Off-Broadway at the Manhattan Theatre Club New York City on February 4, 2003. Starred by Victoria Clark, and Directed by Jessica Stone, widely acknowledged for his potential for bonding humor and harsh reality.
The tale begins in 1999 in suburban New Jersey, a teenager called Kimberly struggling with a condition that made her 4.5x more than she actually is. Put in an difficult reality to experience mortality and teen years at the same time.
Unlike the rare clinical condition, she is facing, Kimberly is rarely seen taken care of in her life, in fact, you will see her unselfishly consumed by her family’s recklessly, which places her in various emotional pressures including psychological strain, financial struggle, social isolation, and the need for belongingness.
